    Last night I invited many of the regular visitors and active participants in the dbaspot forums to join google plus. You may have received the invite and now may be facing the "We've temporarily exceeded our capacity. Please try again soon." issue.

    At this time google seems to be allowing only a certain amount of members at a time. So hang in there and keep trying. I have heard from many that they were able to get in early AM PST, so if you are not able to join, try ...

  3. MySQL TO_DATE Equivalent

    I keep getting a lot of questions from our members who are now implementing MySQL on date time functions of mysql. Today DBADMIN submitted a short FAQ and you can use that as the base and build on top of it.

    Oracle today announced a new release of Sun ray software 5.2 that enables easier deployment and improves audio, video and smart card support as a part of enhancements to their virtual desktop solution.

    The challenge with most Virtual desktop solutions have been the ability to deliver a full blown multi media experience and oracle claims that this release will help deliver that with optimized network utilization.

  5. New Java Specification Requests introduced by Oracle

    Oracle today announced it has submitted the first of two Java Specification Requests (JSRs) to update and revitalize the Java community process.

    this process will produce a new version of the JCP Process document and a formalized Executive Committee Members' Guide. This process is expected to complete in about 6 months and you can read more about it here..
