I have upgraded from filemaker 6 to FM Pro 8.5 Advanced. I am attempting to access a database (that worked in FM 6) from 1 or 2 computers on an office LAN. The database is on a dedicated Mac running OS 10.4 When I try to open the database using FM Pro 8.0 Advanced on a Mac (OS 10.3.9) or using FM Pro 85 Advanced on a Mac (10.4.11) I by going to File - Open Remote, I see the file listed but always get the message: “”xxx.fp7 could not be opened. The host’s capacity was exceeded, try again later.”

I have:
1. turned off file sharing at the OS level (Apple…System Prferences…Sharing)
2. enabled Filemaker network sharing on the host computer.
3. In the database file under extended privilege set enabled access via Filemaker network (fmapp) for all accounts.
4. Each machine has a unique FM (8 or 8.5). No other copies of FM are running on the office LAN.

I tried with several files, including a simple database with only 2 fields and no relationships and get the same message.
