Default OLAP EXCEL OLE DB Provider Error

Hello,

I created two cubes in sql2000 and sql2005 servers. The cubes are akin and
the users connect them via excel 2003 and excel XP edition. Somehow excel
2003 users cannot connect the 2005 analysis server but excel XP edition can.
I have downloaded and installed MSXML 6.0 SDK, OLE DB 9.0 Provider and
XLAddinSetup.msi on the users client's computers so far but not is changed.
SQL 2005 has service pack 2 and win 2003 sp1. The error message is below.
Have you met that kind of error before. Any advice would be helpful

Thank you.

Errors

XML parsing failed at the line 1 column 9: DTD is prohibited

and after

Errors in the ole db provider. An error occurred while loading the
connection dialog box component for prompting

Have you had any resolution to this issue? I am having the exact same
error and cannot seem to find a fix.

Try installing this patch:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936305/

I get a similar error when re-opening an Excel file that already had a
connection the cube. However, I do not get any error when accessing
the cube for the first time in an Excel file.

Any ideas?

I found the issue was how someone set up their original connection to
the cube through Excel. If the original author of a spreadsheet
entered a username and password in their connection setup, then all
other users would get this error. If you set up your connection to
use Windows Authentication, then this error would not show up.

Thank you! That seems to have done the trick.

However, some users have gotten another error when trying to access
the cube within Excel:

XML for Analysis parser: The LocaleIdentifier property is not
overwritable and cannot be assigned a new value

As I found out in previous postings, changing the user's Regional
Language Settings to Englilsh (US) via the Windows Control Panel fixes
the problem. However, my company has users in Quebec whose settings
are in French.

Is there a fix for this as well?
