It works as expected as long as he stays with older HP-UX release. If he needs support he probably would have better get informed before buying a replacement system. HP has clear EOL dates for hardware and software support, it's not their fault when people ignore them. > I know this is not your personal fault, so please don't think > I blame you. In fact, it's the customers who force HP to move to x64 as they aren't willing to pay for the much higher costs of traditional RISC platforms anymore. Benjamin |

I thought these issues were with 11.23 (11iv2) on the C8000, taking it to sw bits for which it was never (IIRC) certified. I suspect that just as the C3750, the C8000 would be perfectly content sitting on 11iv1. > I know this is not your personal fault, so please don't think > I blame you. I suspect that the biggest difference we have is in how we sense the phase of cause and effect ![]() rick jones -- Wisdom Teeth are impacted, people are affected by the effects of events. these opinions are mine, all mine; HP might not want them anyway... ![]() feel free to post, OR email to rick.jones2 in hp.com but NOT BOTH... |

I would expect this box to run 11.00 with latest patches though. >> Say, somebody bought >> a C8000 to upgrade a 3750, because he has a PA-RISC application. >> How happy do you think he might be when his more recent C8000 >> just won't work as expected anymore? > > It works as expected as long as he stays with older HP-UX release. He runs 11.11 which doesn't support his graphics stuff anymore when he applies current patches. We don't complain that HP doesn't see a market for 11.23 on PA-RISC workstations or 11.31 on IA64 workstations. We complain that we run supported configurations and patches break them. >> I know this is not your personal fault, so please don't think >> I blame you. That's another way to see it. If a customer is stupid enough to buy the product, it's all his own fault, of course. Next, we should expect HP selling their machines on ebay: "Privatverkauf ohne Garantie und Gewaehrleistung". Personally, I think the traditional customer who once bought HP-UX, expects a little more support and he might be willing to pay for this too. Dennis -- Don't suffer from insanity... Enjoy every minute of it. |
