SQL1042C error - DB2 Control Center

I have been running IBM DB2 V9.5 on Windows XP Professional for about a month now. I restarted my computer to apply the latest Windows updates and now I always receive db2 error code SQL1042C with SQL state 58004 whenever I try to start db2 Control Center, the Command Line Processor, or execute db2 directly from a DOS prompt. Note that this error appears before I run any commands inside db2. The Control Center/CLP/etc... do not open after displaying the error code.

Is there any repair command that I could run to fix the problem? Would re-installing db2 help? Are there any environment variables that I could check?

I think you should try doing repairing of db2 install. Just go through Control Panel - Add or Remove Programs - Do a "change" on the DB2 installation, there you will get option of repair in the wizard.
If all these don't works then try out db2 database repair software to repair your DB2 database. Just download the latest version of software from online and reinstall.
So just have a try might it work...
