Have you tried downloading the Linux port and building it in the Cygwin
environment?

The question remains: what exactly would be the advantage of a version
of Firefox built in Cygwin under MS-Windows? 90% of people using
MS-Windows are using the native MS-Windows environment (for which there
is a port of Firefox). And even Cygwin's X11 environment is layered
on top of the native MS-Windows environment, so the people using Cygwin
can still use the native MS-Windows port of Firefox.

People using a true X11 environnement (Linux, *BSD, Solaris, etc.) have
available ports of Firefox built for these environments.

Why would you do that when Firefox can run as a Windows application?

As in "why isn't the OP running Linux?"

Because cygwin is a Linux like environment?

I stand to be corrected if you think the link is too tenuous.

I know that's what their home page says, but it's wrong. Cygwin
provides a POSIX-like environment to Windows.

> I stand to be corrected if you think the link is too tenuous.

I think the link is nonexistent. To try to convince you, consider this
question:

"Has anyone out there gotten IE to work with WINE?"

Is that a Windows question? IMO no, because WINE is a linux application
which provides a Windows-like environment. Would somebody who uses
Windows exclusively know the answer to this question? Similarly,
someone who uses linux exclusively would have no clue from Cygwin.

Certainly the OP's question would be more appropriate in a Cygwin or
Firefox discussion group.
