Mint vs. PCLOS vs. PC-BSD Which to choose? - linux-misc
This is a discussion on Mint vs. PCLOS vs. PC-BSD Which to choose? - linux-misc ; I've been an Ubuntu user for some time, but there are a few things I'm not fond of. I'll spare the details, but basically I'm down to these three: Linux Mint, PCLOS 2007 Final, and PC-BSD. I'm not expecting everyone ...

I installed PCLinuxOS 2007 Final on a Dell Inspiron 5000e notebook (500MHz P3 and 256MB RAM) to loan to a girl friend, who is computer challenged. Runs great. Quite smooth. I expected it to be a little jerky with a 500MHz CPU, but it wasn't. As OSes go, it is one of the few that I've tried that is really designed for the tyro: GUI and wizard config/setup tools. Don't even have to know that there is a commandline. Stef |
