Which companies are helping developing the kernel

Hello,

I would like to do a internship in the field of the Linux kernel.
Can someone tell me where to find a list of companies (don't matter in which
country) that employ kernel developers? Or point me to the correct
List/Group for this question?

Surely the point of Linux that no one employs the kernel dvelopers. At
least not to do kernel development :-)

Pretty sure redhat's supplied quite a few kernel patches over the years
Most distros have.
They might not employ someone as a full time kernel developer but I imagine
the kernel is part of the job description.

I'm afraid that your TARDIS has experienced some technical malfunction, and
you landed in the wrong year. Mr. Torvalds hasn't been in academia for a
decade, or so.

Oh, he _was_... 10-12 years ago.

Basically his _job_ is to coordinate the development of
Linux. Rest assured that Red Hat, IBM, HP, Novell and
many other companies have paid employees who work full
time on the Lunix kernel too.

Well, obviously, the correct list would be the kernel mailing list.
But as to finding a list of companies involved, why not demonstrate
your skills by going to ftp.kernel.org and looking in the directory
/pub/linux/kernel/v2.6/ - using the command 'ls -lrt' to get a listing
sorted by date, then grabbing recent ChangeLog-2.6* files, such as

-rw-rw-r-- 1 536 536 19890 Oct 06 18:28 ChangeLog-2.6.16.54
-rw-rw-r-- 1 536 536 4025880 Oct 09 20:38 ChangeLog-2.6.23

and looking through those. I'd bet that you might find something worth
looking at by
