Default local archive won't open

i'm trying 2 open a local archive. after double clicking it, a msg at
the bottom is displayed sayin "performing consistency check on
archive.nsf". the msg doesn't disappear n sometimes it takes more than
5 mins. there are about 22000++ emails in this archive. is this
causing the consistency check to take forever?

after which, the lotus email hangs & i've 2 restart my PC.

is there a way to fix the local archive?

The consistency check is the fix of the database. When you restart the
computer, the database is flagged, and the next time you try to open it,
a consistency check is done again. You simply have to let it finish.
With 22K+ documents in the archive database, it will take a while. Let
it run overnight.
You can also manually run fixup, but you need to copy nfixup.exe from
the Domino server directory to your local machine first, then you can
run it from the command line.
