local archive won't open - lotus-notes-admin
This is a discussion on local archive won't open - lotus-notes-admin ; i'm trying 2 open a local archive. after double clicking it, a msg at the bottom is displayed sayin "performing consistency check on archive.nsf". the msg doesn't disappear n sometimes it takes more than 5 mins. there are about 22000++ ...

| the bottom is displayed sayin "performing consistency check on archive.nsf". the msg doesn't disappear n sometimes it takes more than 5 mins. there are about 22000++ emails in this archive. is this causing the consistency check to take forever? after which, the lotus email hangs & i've 2 restart my PC. is there a way to fix the local archive? |

The consistency check is the fix of the database. When you restart the computer, the database is flagged, and the next time you try to open it, a consistency check is done again. You simply have to let it finish. With 22K+ documents in the archive database, it will take a while. Let it run overnight. You can also manually run fixup, but you need to copy nfixup.exe from the Domino server directory to your local machine first, then you can run it from the command line. -- A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
