This is a discussion on ADOCE w/ C++ w/ Windows Mobile 5.0 - ms-sqlserver ; Please help: The applications I have developed with EVC3 & EVC4 that use ADOCE with C++ to access SQL Server CE 2.0 no longer work in Windows Mobile 5.0. Is there a solution out there?...

Please help:

The applications I have developed with EVC3 & EVC4 that use ADOCE with

Is there a solution out there?

Native Windows Mobile development going forward is
geared towards SQL Mobile and the OLEDB provider.
The SQL Mobile Books OnLine cover this topic fairly well.
eVC++ and ADOCE are now deprecated in favor of
Visual C++ 2005 and OLEDB.

Thanks for the reply.
Is this an unequivocal statement that eVC++ and ADOCE is completely
broken from now on? Or is there a slim chance of a workaround?

FYI for all those out there who have developped in C++ with ADOCE :

I have confirmed that ADOCE does infact work with Windows Mobile 5.0.
The problem is that certain .dll's are not shipped with the device.
Please make sure you install the following dll's, and register them as
noted below:

Required database libraries for ADOCE on Windows Mobile 5.0

Library Self Register?
Adoce31.dll Yes
Adocedb31.dll No
Adoceoledb31.dll No
Msdadc.dll Yes
Msdaosp.dll Yes
Msdaeren.dll No
Msdaer.dll Yes
Adosyncstub.dll No
Adosync.dll Yes

Required database libraries for SSCE on any Windows mobile platform

Library Self Register?
Ssce20.dll Yes
Ssceca20.dll No
Ssceerror20en.dll Yes
