SSRS production control process

I'm curious how people are approaching this and what is recommended in
terms of development, staging, and production SSRS deployments. Right
now I'm doing everything off of the production server (yes, somebody
slap me on the wrist). I'd like to set up a "real" development/testing/
production process but I'm not sure how to go about doing it. SSRS is
a little bit of a different animal than other apps.

Any recommendations? Is Source Safe generally a component in your
processes?
