This is a discussion on Migration error - AS2000 to AS2005 when using Wizard - sqlserver-olap ; Hi I get this error every time I try to migrate a AS 2000 database to AS 2005: "Unable to cast COM object of type 'System.__ComObject' to interface type 'Interop.Dso.IDbGroup90Ex'. | I get this error every time I try to migrate a AS 2000 database to AS 2005: "Unable to cast COM object of type 'System.__ComObject' to interface type 'Interop.Dso.IDbGroup90Ex'. This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{CE55E9E9-9597-4214-B21F-30C7683467B1}' failed due to the following error: No such interface supported (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004002 (E_NOINTERFACE))." I tried enabling DSO but that had no impact, and have subsequently rebuilt the machine. All software is fully service packed, and they are clean installs on a WinXP desktop. I can only find reference to this problem in a couple of places on the web, and none offer any solution. Anybody here encountered this and found a fix? Thanks, MD |

In the SQL 2005 Setup, you need to select the 'Backward Compatibility' components. That will install DSO 8.5 that should fix that error. Make sure you have the MS SQL Server 2005 Backward Compatibility installed. I was receiving the same issue and tried hacking the registry etc but nothing worked. I installed the MS SQL Server 2005 Backward Compatibility utility and it worked like "BUTTER!". "Select * from Life" chfran84119 |

I had the same problem but in my case, I already have the SQL 2005 Backward Compatibility installed. I just ran the repair and it worked fine. |
