Default Task Scheduler is NOT running on the remote node during SQL Cluster installation

Hello experts,

I’m having issue during SQL Server 2005 Installation on 2 cluster machines. I know a similar issue has been raised here before, which was (sql server 2005 setup fails on the remote machine). My problem is a little bit different. After I provide with all the details Setup comes up to the stage where it say’s

“SQL Server setup is preparing to make requested configuration changes…”

After few minutes I get a message saying

“Setup failed to start on remote machine. Check the Task scheduler event log on the remote machine.”

I’m using to machines as active and passive notes and I know both are up and running fine. I’m aware of two things which I need to keep in mind during this process.

1. make sure all the users are log on (Done it and no users are log off.)
2. The Task Scheduler which should be running on the remote node. (BINGO THIS IS MY PROBLE. After when installation starts I notice on my other node under Task Schedular a new ask has been created with the name “SQL Server Remote Setup”. Here are more details about this task.
Name-> SQL Server Remote Setup
Schedule-> Task not scheduled
Next Run Time -> Never
Last Run Time -> Never
Status -> Could not start).

So I know this is the problem because this start is not able to start remotely. But I don’t how to fix it and what should I do to get it start.

Does anybody have any idea about it?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Default Re: Task Scheduler is NOT running on the remote node during SQL Cluster installation

Hi,

Read your post and I encounter the same error as you faced. I need to install SQL 2005 Enterprise x64 into 3 nodes cluster and hit to an error as below:

Running: RunRemoteSetupAction at: 7da/2/d 11:3:a

Error: 0x80070005 TaskSchedulerWorkItem failed to save the task [SQL Server Remote Setup ]
Complete: RunRemoteSetupAction at: 2010/2/13 17:3:12, returned false
Error: Action "RunRemoteSetupAction" failed during execution. Error information reported during run:
Attempting to determine log files for remote install.
Connection to remote computer's scheduler service.
Creating new workitem.
Starting remote setup on:PMBPPBTDB03
Error: 80070005 Access is denied.

I had try to install the single node and add node without any success with same error. I had make sure there is no remote session in the machine and all resources is online. Please advise.

Thanks,
Clement
