and should shut up". It is a put-down saying you'd rather
have me go away than hear of the problem.

I'm pretty certain that this is not - neither expressedly nor
implied - policy of The FreeBSD Project.

So, to put it politely, please refrain from such remarks
in the future. It is not helpful and does not advance anything.

I have not enough knowledge about the inner workings of the
ports system, and feel not qualified to offer a patch for that.

This does not the least disqualify me from commenting on or
judging the quality of this particular instance of this
particular port.

I can say, though, that in this case, the advantage of having
xorg 7.2 does not outweigh the disadvantages associated with
this port forcing itself upon everbody using the ports system.

So, in short, if the maintainers do not see the possibility to
make this port behave, they should just revert their change
and wait until someone comes along who does.

Ahhh well that's not going to happen. This'll be a non-issue with
6.3-RELEASE and its packages, folks who don't want to do the upgrade
from source may just do a binary install and then it's done. (It may
be a non-issue now if the -STABLE packages include the xorg7 binaries,
I'm not sure though)
