Logical volume group , what are you referring to. I have 18 chunks within my production database, so is each chunk considered a logical volume and being within the production database does this make it a logical volume group?
Based on my assumption does that mean this will only work when moving from one logical volume group to another , such production volumes to test volumes?

Using the UNIX "dd" command seems the easiest but there was concern from our UNIX support whether the Informix engine would have issue with that.

Using mirroring through IDS.
Regarding the "enable mirroring for the dbspace", are you refering to the dbspace which makes up the 18 chunks or the chunk itself?
Bring down the chunk using onspaces, are you referring to dropping the chunk?
Bring online the chunk using onspaces then remove mirror using onspaces, how is that done, what is the syntax?

Referring to "Primary Chunk" are your referring to rootdbs?

I have two chunks that reside on a disk drive that needs to be replaced. It does not seem to give us any problems but the disk drive gives us a Soft Error each time the system is rebooted. Because the disk drive in concat and not in a RAID configuration the data will be lost. Three methods have been given which are the IDS amd using mirroring, using the Unix 'dd" command and of course the restore using ONTAPE or ONBAR.

Thanks for any help or advice you can give me.
