Hi,

we have a active-passive windows 2003 cluster for a SAP application and oracle database.

Our current scenario:

Physical Node 1(Active): Oracle data base installed
Physical node 2(Passive): SAP Application installed

Virtual node 1: Both application and database instances available
Virtual node 2: Both application and database instances available

Storage: HP SAN

Question:

we need to apply a patch to oracle database and then upgrade SAP to ECC6 from ECC4. We need to know how to do it when it is on a cluster.

The test and quality servers have been upgraded since they are standalone. The production environment is clustered and we want to confirm the logical steps on how to proceed with the upgrade.

Whether we need to evict the nodes individually and upgrade them or just bring them offline and upgrade.

Attempted:

We attempted to apply the oracle patch on physical node 1 after bringing the physical node 2 offline (we did not evict it) but it failed with a message that one of the services is still in use. We had stopped all the cluster services and followed the read me document provided by oracle.


Any help would be appreciated.
