Maybe simply Microsoft Access via odbc for Oracle and odbc for
    sqlserver?
You don't need the rowids in Reports?
I checked OTN but I can't find out if Oracle Reports has a gateway to
    SqlServer.

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 ships with (as part of the price) SQL Server
Analysis Services, you can very easily create what is called a UDM which
brings data sources together into a repository that can be reported against
using Reporting Services (again, as part of the price - ships with SQL
    Server).

Once you've built your UDM, you can also use MS Office to query and create
pivot tables against your multi-dimensional data set.

SSAS also offers proactive caching through query notifications now built
    into the SQL Server engine.

There are countless number of data sources you can use within your UDM, that
    includes Oracle.

Even if it did, I'd probably consider using the (included) Heterogeneous
services in Oracle and simply make the SQL Server look like a remote
Oracle database. That way I could use the capabilities of Oracle, such as
the analytic functions (that are available even in Oracle Express
Edition) to reduce the data set.

There are many tools: Cognos Business Intelligence, Crystal Reports,
Business Objects, Excel, OpenOffice, SAS, Applyit C++ reporting engine,
Perl and many others. Perl is of somewhat limited usefulness as it doesn't
support Oracle's array interface, while reporting is precisely the area
    which needs it desperately.
If I were you, I would be evaluating the products in the price range you
want and suitable for your needs and purposes. IT organizations usually
create a project with an acquisition of a reporting tool as a goal.
Inquiring on the Usenet is highly unlikely to get the job done. It is
likely, however, to elicit some interesting comments, especially from
    Sybrand.
