Attaching *.db * .log files to an instance of SE 15.0.2 on WIndows

  1. Attaching *.db * .log files to an instance of SE 15.0.2 on WIndows

    Merry CHristmas all;

    I have downloaded and installed the latest ASE and client components.
    I have been able to create database devices and even create a
    database.

    I was given a .db file by a client and I can't seem to figure out how
    to get the .db and associated .log file into my instances of ASE.

    Has anyone done this?

    I do not know as of yet what version of Sybase the *.db & .log files
    were produced in. I am waiting for a response on that.

    If anyone has a checklist for the load/install/attach of these *.db
    & .log files I would reallt appreciate it.

    Regards to all,

    Michael

    Hi Michael,

    *.db and *.log files are the data and log files for the database
    engine called "Adaptive Server Anywhere".

    See URL below to download the eval copy of product
    http://www.sybase.com/detail?id=1002288#sa_pc

    copy both files to c:\mydir
    cd c:\mydir

    c:\mydir>dbeng10.exe mydata.db

    you can create an odbc connection and connect using dbisql.

    Hello again;

    Downloaded and installed the eval version of Anywhere developer
    edition (indicates iAnywhere 10.0.2 I believe)
    ran the dbeng10.exe mydata.db (with my db name) and got

    mydata.db is not a valid database file

    Tried an odbc connection but got

    Connection failed: Specified database is invalid

    Look like I have to look farther afield to see if I can solve this
    one.

    Regards,

    Michael
